ANNOUNCEMENT
LETTER
April 30 & May
1, 2005
Dear Artist and Craftsperson,
The Lloyd Harbor Historical Society is
pleased to announce its fifth annual Daffodil Hill Fine
Arts & Crafts Fair, to be held on Saturday, April 30th
and Sunday, May 1st, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Our fair will take place in a new location - the very beautiful
and more heavily visited portion of Caumsett
Historic State Park known as the Marshall Field Farm
Complex and adjacent level fields. The Farm Complex is located
at the main entrance to Caumsett
Historic State Park, just 5 scenic miles from Huntington
Village. This area’s rustic beauty attracts an average
of 4,000 people during the same weekend of our wonderful
fine arts and crafts show. We intend to dramatically increase
the growing popularity of our show this year with the help
of our new location. Our fair will continue to feature 60
10 x 10 booths of high quality arts & crafts in a breathtaking
indoor and outdoor setting. If you are a returning artist
and exhibitor we know that you will be pleased with our
change in location.
Like last year’s fair, our 2005
fair will feature high quality exhibitors whose art work
includes woodblock prints and watercolors, photography,
blown glass and intricately hand woven baskets. We will
continue to be highly selective when accepting artists.
Only handmade, original creations by the craftsperson or
a family member will be accepted. This year’s fair
will feature 60 exhibitors in a wide variety of all fine
arts and craft media.
The Society, founded in 1975, has also
held a highly successful annual antique show for the past
20 years, featuring 70 dealers during the two-day show.
The Society also provides numerous educational programs
and activities for people of all ages, as well as lectures
and social events, which celebrate the unique history of
Long Island’s north shore. To that end, the Society
has undertaken the preservation and operation of the Henry
Lloyd Manor House, a state-owned historic resource.
Our advertising campaign will be extensive.
Print ads will be placed in Newsday and in local papers.
We will place radio as well as cable advertisements. Postcards
will be mailed to all of the Society’s members. Poster,
signs and flyers will be distributed and posted.
Our committee members continue to spend
a significant amount of time attending fine arts and crafts
fairs on Long Island and throughout the Northeast. We recognize
that there is a great need for smaller, high quality fairs
that focus on the arts and crafts, not just the profits.
We strongly believe that the Society’s Daffodil Hill
Fine Arts & Crafts Fair fills that need.
We hope you will accept our invitation
to submit slides for our show. We will jury until full.
The fee for our show is $175.
Please feel free to call us directly with
any questions or comments at (631) 424-6110 or
